Context

FitTogether served two audiences in one product: fitness enthusiasts wanting community and activity, and trainers/gym owners needing client management and scheduling. Growth had stalled—the product was trying to serve both groups without a clear navigation or value proposition for either.

My role

I led a full product overhaul—conducting research with trainers, gym managers, and fitness enthusiasts, then redesigning social profiles, activity feeds, B2B scheduling tools, and the navigation model bridging consumer and business features.

Approach

Interviewed both sides of the marketplace before touching UI. Mapped where social features created value for enthusiasts and where operational tools reduced friction for professionals. Redesigned information architecture to separate—but connect—consumer community and business workflow surfaces, then validated through iterative prototyping.

Key decisions

  • Dual-audience IA — explicit navigation between community and business tools instead of one cluttered home experience.
  • Research before visual redesign — the 200× signup gain came from structural product changes, not a new color palette.
  • B2B tools as first-class — gym owners and trainers got dedicated workflows, not bolt-on settings pages.
  • Web + mobile parity — enhanced web app experience for gym managers who plan on desktop.

What I learned

  • Two-sided products need two clear front doors—blending audiences early reduces growth for both.
  • Signup growth follows clarity of value, not feature count.
  • Fitness products compete on habit—design for weekly return, not first-session delight.

Key focus areas

  • Social profiles and activity feeds tailored to fitness communities
  • Client management and scheduling tools for trainers and gym owners
  • Dual-audience navigation between consumer and business features

Outcome

Led a complete overhaul through research with trainers, gym managers, and fitness enthusiasts — resulting in a 200× increase in user signups, a more engaging interface, and significantly enhanced web app experience.
