Context

Optiva builds cloud-native BSS/OSS platforms for global operators — billing, charging, catalog, and digital self-care at scale. Operators launching MVNO, 5G, eSIM, and agentic AI monetization needed enterprise UX that could simplify complex workflows without slowing delivery teams.

My role

As UX Consultant, I led user-centered design across stakeholder research, user flows, wireframes, interactive prototypes, and design system work for web-based OSS/BSS tools — including agentic AI and 5G monetization experiences.

Approach

Mapped operator workflows across catalog, charging, rating, billing, and self-care before designing UI. Built reusable patterns for enterprise density — progressive disclosure, role-based views, and consistent navigation across cloud-native SaaS modules.

Key decisions

  • Workflow-first design — understanding operator tasks before visual exploration.
  • Unified design system — consistency across BSS modules to reduce training and support costs.
  • Agentic AI as a surfaced capability — not a hidden backend; monetization UX made legible to business users.
  • Research with stakeholders — aligning product, engineering, and operator admins early.

What I learned

  • Enterprise telecom UX wins on clarity under operational pressure — not aesthetic minimalism alone.
  • BSS complexity is a design problem when patterns fragment across modules.
  • AI monetization features fail when operators cannot see business impact in the workflow.

Workflow model

Simplified enterprise BSS surface map (non-confidential).

Key focus areas

  • UX for Optiva BSS Platform — policy, charging, rating, billing, product catalog, and digital self-care
  • Enterprise workflow design for operators launching MVNO, 5G, eSIM, and digital brand experiences
  • Research, user flows, wireframes, and interactive prototypes for web-based OSS/BSS tools
  • Design system and style guide work for consistency across cloud-native SaaS products

Outcome

Delivered research-informed UX for enterprise telecom platforms — improving clarity across complex BSS/OSS workflows. Optiva’s Agentic AI BSS has since been recognized with industry awards for AI-driven monetization.
